Date: 11/06/2024

Consumer protection

We want to inform you about the significant changes brought about by the new Consumer Protection Act (Act No. 108/2024 Coll.), which will come into effect on July 1, 2024.

If you are involved in retail or interact with consumers on a regular basis, these changes will apply to you as well. From July 1, 2024, you will need to update your Complaints Procedure (CP) and General Terms and Conditions (GTC) and make adjustments to other processes related to the sale of goods and services to consumers.

There are several changes that will benefit retailers in particular. For example, it will now be possible, for valid reasons, to process a complaint even after the expiry of the previously mandatory 30-day period. It will also be possible to reject a customer's complaint during the first 12 months after the purchase of the goods without requiring an expert assessment. However, there will be many more changes.

For detailed information about the changes and the necessary steps to be taken on July 1, 2024, please don't hesitate to contact our office.
