We helped bring Volvo’s investment to Slovakia

Date: 13/07/2022

We are delighted to congratulate the Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic on successfully representing the interests of Slovakia and securing a huge investment from the Swedish automaker Volvo. These efforts have led up to the signing of an investment agreement last week. We are very happy and proud that our law firm could contribute to achieving this strategic success for Slovakia. The expert team headed by our partner Ján Azud provided comprehensive legal assistance to the government of the Slovak Republic and helped with the arduous negotiations with the Swedish investors.

“First of all, I must praise the in-depth expertise and the deep commitment of the team of the Valaliky Industrial Park, MH Invest II, SARIO, Ministry of Economy of the Slovak Republic, and their outside advisors. The devotion of all of them helped secure this phenomenal result. I am also very proud that we have been given the opportunity to be part of this team whose months-long efforts and zealous work ensured this remarkable success. Thanks to the extensive experience with similar large-scale projects our law firm was able to offer hands-on and valuable know-how to the government. Still, the work on this project can hardly be called routine. The huge competition from other countries interested in obtaining this investment and the tenacity and expertise of the investor’s negotiating team created an entirely new set of circumstances, which called for new solutions and at times required a great deal of imagination and creativity. Even though this is the fifth automaker to be based in Slovakia, I am positive that Volvo’s investment is of strategic importance for the future of Slovakia, mainly because of its aim at achieving climate neutrality by producing purely electronic cars. I would like to extend my thanks to my associates Eva Nagyová, Peter Bartoš, and Jaroslav Ružička Jr. for their outstanding work and dedication. Last but not least, I wish steadfastness, dedication, and an equally qualified team of professionals for Slovakia to go smoothly through the implementation stage, as there is still a lot of work ahead that needs to be done”, said Ján Azud, partner of the law firm.
